Dr. Michael Hood

Michael Hood is an emergency & trauma radiologist at Massachusetts General Hospital and Instructor in Radiology at Harvard Medical School. He serves as the Service Chief for Radiography across the Mass General Brigham system, where he leads enterprise-wide quality, safety, and process improvement initiatives. His academic work centers on trauma imaging, operations, and the development of informatics systems that bring structure and clarity to the complexity of radiology data. He has collaborated with industry partners on large-scale AI and structured reporting projects, including building clinical decision support tools that integrate national guidelines directly into reporting workflows.

Michael is deeply invested in medical education. At Mass General, he founded the Hindsight Case Conference, a recurring program where residents and faculty review missed findings in a constructive, stigma-free setting designed to transform error into insight. He has also received recognition for his teaching, including an award for best clinical educator during his first year as an attending.

Beyond medicine, Michael has a broad set of pursuits. He is an entrepreneur, scientist, engineer, artist, and musician. He runs creative ventures ranging from educational platforms to graphic design, music production, and printmaking. A trained pianist and avid traveler, he brings curiosity and a sense of design to both his professional and personal projects. Michael lives in Boston with his husband Bowen.
