I’m Claudia Gomez, a bilingual 5th grade teacher in Boston Public Schools. I am from Chicago, Ilinois, and I attended Monmouth College for undergrad, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish with a minor in Psychology. After college, I joined the Peace Corps and went abroad to Guatemala, which was on one of my best experiences. Here, I figured out where my passion lies, which is working with communities and youth development. My career as an educator started after the Peace Corps, when I moved to Denver, Colorado to teach at a bilingual elementary school. I earned an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction: Critical Pedagogy from the University of Colorado – Denver while teaching in Denver. From there, I moved to Oakland, California and then to Boston (thanks to my husband—and fellow tutor—Julian). I love physical activities, especially playing soccer, dancing, and spending time with my husband. I’m super excited to be part of the Leverett community and look forward to meeting you!
